Career and Academic Counselling:

Following are some statements made by parents and teens about confusions related to subject/career choices:

  • We are confused about what subjects our child would take in high school 11th/12th because our child has multiple interests and talents
  • Selected some subjects in high school but don’t like them any more
  • Hate the stream I Chose but don’t know what else I can do
  • Joined a stream but don’t want to take up a job in this field
  • My parents want me to get into this stream but I am not sure
  • All my friends have decided on what subjects to take but I am so confused

We at Art of Parenteen understand that one of the most worrying phase in teens’ and their parents’ life is ensuring that the children settle down well in their career. But is that so easy? Absolutely not. Each child is unique and has different interests, aptitude and personality and therefore, there is no one size fits all kind of solution. Moreover, it’s a proven fact that the wrong selection of subjects can lead to stress, anxiety and a complete lack of interest in studies, thereby affecting both the students and the entire family.

There is help at last. We are now offering “Career Guidance and Counselling” for students above 13 years of age, using scientific psychometric tools but with a “personal touch”. We try to understand the student’s background, preferences and any limiting thoughts in the subconscious before finalizing the career test report. The idea is to make the student and the parents aware of the suitable academic/career options before taking the all important decision about subject selection.

Who can take this assessment?

Anyone between 13-21 years old can take the assessment.

How do we do it?

  1. The first step involves a personal counselling session (done online for students outside Chennai) with the student to understand his/her preferences, influences and any limiting thoughts.
  2. This is followed by administering the scientifically proven psychometric checklists to find out the student’s career interest, personality and the aptitude.
  3. Subsequently, scores are calculated to create a detailed and personalized “Career Guidance Test Report”.
  4. The report is mailed to the parents. Another appointment can be booked (if desired) at a mutually convenient time, if there are any clarifications or doubts.

How long does the entire process take?

The report will be sent to the client within 5 – 7 days of the first appointment (personal counselling session).

What is the fee to be paid?

The entire package, right from personal counselling to generating the detailed personalized report costs Rs. 1400.

For those who don’t want a personal counselling session and are interested in only going through the psychometric assessment and getting a report, the fee is Rs. 800.
